Chattanooga's 'Conservation Kid' named CNN Hero

Cash Daniels, a Chattanooga icon, was honored as a CNN Heroes Young Wonder for his efforts in cleaning up the Tennessee River.

Online voters nominated dozens of people for the national contest.

CNN credited 16-year-old Daniels, "The Conservation Kid," for his efforts to pull more than 45,000 pounds of garbage from our area's waterways.

He also has recycled more than 8,000 miles of fishing line. Close
