BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Detectives are investigating a deadly crash that left a bicyclist dead on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Officials identified the victim as Aaron Augustus Jr., 30.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, an unknown vehicle was traveling east on the Mohican-Prescott Crossover towards Beechwood Drive when it collided with the bicyclist around 9:38 p.m.
Police say they believe the bicycle was also traveling east because its rear end was damaged.
Witnesses reported that the unknown driver and passenger stopped momentarily before fleeing the location without calling 911 or rendering aid, according to police.
Augustus was taken to the hospital for treatment, but police say he died from his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation.
