SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) - A Shelburne suicide prevention program is shutting down amid economic woes.
Officials with the Center for Health and Learning announced that the nonprofit will dissolve on Friday because of what they call an uncertain economy and cuts to federal funding.
For more than 25 years, the center has trained thousands of Vermonters to recognize and respond to suicide risk and other public health issues.
The center is partnering with the Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery to continue their Umatter Suicide Prevention Training Program.
If you or someone you know needs help, the national suicide and crisis lifeline in the U.S. is available by calling or texting 988. There is also an online chat at 988lifeline.org .
