SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Winter officially arrives in less than two weeks, but cold temperatures and wind chills have arrived early. The snow from last Monday is also a reminder for drivers to take their cars in for checkups and to pack emergency kits.

A Nissan Rogue was at Rick’s Automotive on Monday for maintenance work. In addition to topping off oil, technicians checked the car to see if it was winter-ready. Tim Fess, general manager of Rick’s Automotive, says drivers should have all systems checked, including batteries, brakes, heating and electrical systems, and antifreeze, to spot problems before they become bigger ones later.
