KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 19-year-old in Kansas City is behind bars, charged with murder nearly 18 months after a deadly shooting at a Midtown apartment complex.
Jackson County Circuit Court records unsealed on Tuesday, Dec. 9, show that La’Dre Smallwood, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
The charges follow the June 2024 shooting death of Wayne E. Gordon, 57. Prosecutors said charges were filed on Dec. 5 as Smallwood’s bond was set at $300,000.
The Kansas City Police Department said that around 2:35 p.m. on June 24, first responders were called to the Brick House Apartments near 38th and Bellview Ave.
When they arrived, investigators indicated that they found Gordon lying on a landing between the first and second floors. He was pronounced
