SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Cybersecurity experts are warning holiday shoppers to be extra cautious as scammers increase their activity during the busy shopping season.
Pamela Hernandez, regional director with the Better Business Bureau in Springfield, said scammers use the same tactics year-round but become more active during the holidays, when more people shop online.
“It’s often through kind of the things we see all year round that just, it gets busier during the holidays because more people are doing shopping and maybe they’re a little more distracted as well,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez said many shoppers are looking for the best deals, but that often leads to problems. She recommends taking time to research unfamiliar companies before making purchases.
