BOWLING GREEN, KY.- With politicians making decisions at both the state and local levels, experts say it’s important for citizens to have a general understanding of key bills and their rights.
No matter your political party, having knowledge about candidates and their priorities before you vote can help you understand how those decisions may affect you.
Becky Jones, Vice President of the League of Women Voters, said it’s critical for citizens to stay engaged.
“It’s so important for citizens to pay attention. And I know it just becomes burdensome and it feels like, ‘What’s the point of voting because nobody listens?’ The point is, we only have power if we exercise our right to vote,” Jones said.
