IOWA CITY, Iowa — An alarm is sounding at the University of Iowa after a graduate program in the College of Nursing raised concerns over a proposed change to professional degree language.

The proposed change would remove the "not limited to" clause, potentially excluding fields not explicitly listed. This change affects the loan cap for these programs, which currently stands at $200,000, while other graduate or doctorate programs have a cap of $100,000.

Daniel Crawford, the Associate Dean of Graduate Practice Programs, expressed concerns about the impact on enrollment.
