SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A serious accident involving a bus carrying the Remsen St. Mary's girls' basketball team near Sioux City last month raised concerns about their upcoming season. The bus collided with a Jeep while attempting to turn onto a highway, resulting in injuries to some players.
Despite the setback, the team made a resilient return to the court for their 2025-2026 season debut with a home game against West Sioux.
"It felt really good to be back on the basketball court today, but it felt just a piece of us was missing," one of the players said.
The team took a week off after the accident to regroup before making the decision to proceed with the season. Breeana Sheehan, a center for the team, expressed her determination to play for Remsen St. Mary's and for her teammates.
