New Delhi: The Centre will cut IndiGo’s approved winter flight schedule after a week of nationwide cancellations that left major airports struggling to manage stranded passengers and misplaced baggage, Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu said.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has initiated corrective measures following what officials have described as a severe operational breakdown at India’s largest airline.
Speaking to Doordarshan on Monday night, Naidu confirmed that the government plans to trim IndiGo’s winter routes. “We will curtail IndiGo’s routes. They are currently operating 2,200 flights. We will curtail them,” he said, adding that the ministry is reviewing which routes should be reassigned to other carriers.
