BBC Breakfast took an emotional turn on Tuesday after Sally Nugent and Jon Kay spoke with a guest who has been given the all-clear following her incurable cancer diagnosis.

Before speaking with Alyssa Tapley, Jon said, "Now we've got a remarkable health story for you. This morning, a 16-year-old girl became the first patient in the world to be given a brand new treatment for a previously incurable blood cancer."

Sally continued, "Yes, Alyssa Tapley had gene therapy three years ago at Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London. She is now cancer-free. Alyssa is going to join us in just a moment, but first, here's our medical editor, Fergus Walsh."
