BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — Both directions of Interstate 65 are closed for a nearly 10-mile stretch in Bartholomew and Jackson counties Tuesday morning after a semi fire.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department said the interstate was shut down from the exit 64, south of Columbus, to the exit 55, north of Seymour in Jackson County, after a semi transporting explosive material caught fire.
An alert from INDOT, citing the sheriff's department, said the incident involved "a military semi hauling heavy ammunition."
"It will take some time to render the material/scene safe. Approximate time line for reopening the interstate is 4 hours," the sheriff's department said .
