A SCOTTISH Labour MP was awkwardly shut down by the Speaker of the House of Commons as he tried to ask Rachel Reeves about Scottish independence .
After SNP MP Stephen Gethins pressed the Chancellor on when she would release Labour analysis of the impacts of Brexit on economic growth, Torcuil Crichton subsequently stood up to ask Reeves if she had any assessment of the SNP's plan "to separate Scotland from its main market, the rest of the UK".
But the Na h-Eileanan an Iar MP was immediately shut down by Speaker Lindsay Hoyle, who said: "The good news for the Chancellor is she has no responsibility for the SNP."
Crichton also thanked Reeves for the "extra £820 million" in the Scottish Budget , which she claimed she did "because Anas Sarwar asked us to" .
