COLUMBIA — What's been whispered about all weekend is on the cusp of becoming official, according to an ESPN report.
South Carolina is near completion on a deal to make TCU's Kendal Briles the Gamecocks' new offensive coordinator, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported late on Dec. 8. Briles had become a favorite to land the job, with sources confirming to The Post and Courier that USC's school plane had been in and out of locations near Fort Worth, Texas, since Dec. 5.
Other sources have confirmed that there is "heavy mutual interest" between Briles and USC.
