OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Phase one of what is believed to be the largest development in Habitat Omaha’s 40-year history is complete.

Habitat Omaha officials said the Bluestem Prairie development near 51st and Sorensen Parkway may be the largest nonprofit affordable home ownership development in the city.

Former Omaha Police Chief Thomas Warren remembers the old crime-ridden Mayor Park Apartments that morphed into the Wintergreen Apartments .

The city had to tear it all down after it was left rundown and vacant and people decided to dump all kinds of trash there.
