FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A shooting on the Kentucky State University campus Tuesday afternoon left one student dead and another injured, prompting officials to cancel classes for the remainder of the semester.

The shooting happened on the south end of campus near Young Hall around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to Frankfort police.

Police identified the suspect as Jacob Lee Bard, who shot two KSU students. Investigators said Bard is not a student at the university.

Students describe chaotic scene

The incident unfolded as students were going to class. Two students said they ran to safety, uncertain of where the gunfire was coming from.
