OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Over 3,000 people in the Omaha metro are being affected by power outages early Wednesday.
According to the Omaha Public Power District’s outage map , there were a total of 3,288 customers without power at 5 a.m. Wednesday.
A majority of the outages look to be in the Papillion and La Vista areas with approximately 2,392 customers out. Midtown has about 82 customers impacted, and North Omaha has about 12.
OPPD’s map indicates that it serves about 425,170 customers total.
The power outages come during strong winds in the area . Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord reports wind gusts up to 62 mph in both Council Bluffs and Eppley Airfield, and 58 in Omaha.
Rusty says wind gusts of 50-60 mph will persist through about 7 a.m. before starting to decrease
