Starting Monday, Dec. 15, emergency after-hours veterinary care will be provided by Aurora Animal Hospital on College Road in Fairbanks.

Dr. Barb Cole, the owner of Aurora Animal Clinic, said this is due to a veterinarian at North Pole Veterinary Hospital who handled emergency after-hours calls leaving.

Aurora Animal Hospital will be open until midnight on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those are nights in which the Fairbanks After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic on Bonnie Avenue is closed.

Cole recommends people call Aurora’s after-hours line ahead of schedule, as the clinic’s doors will be locked following regular business hours.

Cole said the After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic reduced its operations about five years ago to three nights a week, leaving a coverage gap.
