Woman found dead in Bridgewater Canal

A major scene was in place near the Bridgewater Canal in Altrincham after a woman was found dead.

Emergency services were spotted by the canal near Plantin Road and Atlantic Street in Broadheath on Wednesday morning (December 10).

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the body of a woman was found in the water

Officers are currently working to establish her identity and to contact her next of kin

Part of the canal path was also closed off by police on Oldfield Road this morning. Specialist police team was seen carrying out a search in the water
