CLEVELAND — We have all been there. A cold winter morning with an angry sky and temperatures firmly in the teens. You walk outside and the first thing you see is your car dressed in a glittering coating of ice. You shuffle to your car, keys in one hand, coffee in the other. But, when you try to unlock the car door, something is wrong. The key won’t turn. The lock is frozen solid.
If this ever happens to you, here are a few simple tricks to thaw your frost bound car and get you going on schedule.
1. Use a lock de-icer spray This is your best first move. Commercial de-icer sprays are alcohol-based and melt ice fast. Spray the de-icer into the keyhole and wait a few seconds. Then, wiggle the key gently.
