LONDON — Beloved British novelist Sophie Kinsella has died at 55 after a battle with brain cancer, her family announced .

Kinsella, born Madeleine Wickham, died peacefully Wednesday morning and spent her final days surrounded by the things she cherished most, “family and music and warmth and Christmas and joy.”

In their tribute, the family reflected on the enormous void her absence leaves behind.

“We can’t imagine what life will be like without her radiance and love of life,” they wrote, noting that she faced her illness with “unimaginable courage.”

They added that Kinsella felt deeply fortunate even during her most difficult months: she knew she was “truly blessed — to have such wonderful family and friends, and to have had the extraordinary success of her writing career.”
