DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa's unemployment rate fell to 3.7 percent in September, according to recent data.

This marks a decrease from the previous month and shows a year-over-year increase from 3.3 percent. In contrast, the national unemployment rate rose to 4.4 percent in September.

Despite a federal government shutdown delaying some data releases, Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) reported that the state saw an increase of 3,700 jobs in September. This growth was driven by hiring in both public and private schools as classes resumed and a notable rise in construction jobs, which added 1,300 positions.
