Cops have arrested 66 people in the last 10 days as part of a nationwide crackdown on drink and drugs. Northumbria Police is supporting a festive operation led by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) between December 1, 2025 and January 1, 2026.

The campaign sees increased patrol activity on the region's roads, with more vehicle stops in a bid to put the brakes on offending drivers. Inspector Glen Robson said the force backs the campaign every December.
