Chipotle is extending buy-one, get-one offers for entrées for the first three Saturdays of the month in addition to "surprise drops" for Reward Members with its "Unwrap Extra" promotion.

December is going to be all about freebies at Chipotle.

The Newport Beach, California-based restaurant chain is "ringing in the holiday season" with buy-one, get-one (BOGO) offers on entrées the next two Saturdays in December. Chipotle is also gifting "extra treats," such as free chips or double protein, to its Rewards Members all month long.

On Dec. 6, customers had the opportunity to participate in Tacos BOGO, during which they could buy a three-taco entrée and get a free entrée. On Saturday, Dec. 13, Chipotle customers can get a free entrée with the purchase of a burrito on "Burrito BOGO" day.

The series of holiday promotions dubbed "Unwrapped Extra" will conclude with "Extra Sweater Day" on Dec. 20, a day for customers to wear their most "extra" sweater for a chance to redeem the last BOGO offer of the season.

"Unwrap Extra is about giving back to our fans and creating moments to come together around the food they crave with the people they love," Chris Brandt, president and chief brand officer at Chipotle, said in a statement. "With three consecutive Saturday deals and two surprise drops for every Rewards member, this is our biggest holiday promotion yet."

Here's how to claim the December BOGO offers.

How to get a free entrée at Chipotle in December

Customers must purchase a burrito in-restaurant after 4 p.m. local time on Saturday, Dec. 13, to receive the free entrée. Entrées, as defined by Chipotle Mexican Grill, include salads, bowls, tacos and burritos.

Chipotle's "Unwrap Extra" promotional offer is redeemable in-restaurant only at participating restaurants across the country. Kids' meals do not count as an entrée purchase.

According to Chipotle, the deal cannot be combined with other coupons, promotions or special offers. There is a limit of five free menu items per check.

Chipotle giving away free food to college students

Chipotle is not leaving college students out of the mix this holiday season, launching "Bowl Eligible," a new program that allows Chipotle U Rewards Members to receive a free entrée with purchase.

Only college students who attend universities with football teams eligible for the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) postseason can claim the freebie. Students at 84 universities are "Bowl Eligible."

Students at qualifying schools must join Chipotle U Rewards by Thursday, Dec. 18, to claim the offer; however, existing rewards members who attend schools competing, or have FBS postseason eligibility, will automatically receive access to the BOGO offer on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and Friday, Dec. 19.

To redeem the free entrée, Chipotle U Rewards Members must place their order via the Chipotle app or chipotle.com within seven days of the offer being added to their account.
