IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - An Iowa City woman was charged with witness tampering Monday, adding to charges she already faces in a multi-million dollar spa prostitution and money laundering case.

56-year-old Junping Ren, of Iowa City, and her husband Zhenshi Liu, are both facing charges including pimping, prostitution, pandering, money laundering and ongoing criminal conduct. Liu is also charged with third-degree sexual abuse for allegedly abusing a woman during a massage.

Police say Ren allegedly contacted a victim and his wife repeatedly between October 4 and December 7, trying to influence their testimony. Court documents say she told them, “Protect me...You can say you don’t know anything they ask you.”
