PORT JERVIS – Just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Port Jervis Police, Fire, and EMS units responded to a reported partial building collapse/rescue call at 21 West Main in Port Jervis.
Upon arrival, responders found that a side section of a closed gas station/auto repair shop had collapsed, pulled away from the main portion of the structure, and landed in part in a construction hole located alongside the building.
Port Jervis Fire Department 2 nd Assistant Chief Jeffrey Lewis was on scene at the call and said work had been going on at the site. The portion of the building that collapsed was located at the corner of the structure, closest to the driveway. That side bay portion had separated from the main part of the structure and slowly caved in.
