MANCHESTER, Ky. (WYMT) - Retired minister Doug Abner, who is credited with helping initiate the “March Against Drugs” in Clay County in 2004, has died. He was 78.

Operation UNITE posted a tribute on social media, saying Abner was “a boost to the beginning of Operation UNITE and its grassroots community coalitions.”

In 2007, Abner and another pastor, Ken Bolin, received the Tony Turner Award at the East Kentucky Leadership Conference for their spiritual revival efforts in Clay County.

Abner’s funeral will be Friday evening, December 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the City of Hope Church. Burial will be held on Saturday, December 13, at 12:00 p.m. at the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
