After FIFA officials announced the dates and locations for specific World Cup matches last week, the phones started ringing at NJ Transit with fans asking about service to the July 2026 games at MetLife Stadium.

Even board member Shanti Narra said she got calls after last week’s announcement from friends and family, asking about transit ticketing and service for the eight games to be played at MetLife Stadium.

New Jersey-New York was one of several host cities selected last year by FIFA for the World Cup games in July 2026. The men’s 2026 World Cup is set to feature a 48-team tournament, with 60 matches played in the U.S.

Ten matches will be hosted by Canada and Mexico. Five matches will be played at MetLife Stadium between June 13 and 27, which doesn’t include the final games.
