ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis animal shelter is calling for community help after its heating system failed during a stretch of cold weather.
CARE STL, which is contracted by the city to serve as St. Louis’ animal shelter, lost all three heating units in its dog building on Friday. While two units were repaired by the end of the day, the third unit needs to be replaced, said Weng Horak, CARE STL founder and CEO.
“We were expecting that it will be replaced, like, early this week, but as of this morning, we were told we don’t know yet when the third unit will be delivered,” Horak said.
Space heaters are working to make up the difference in the 8,500-square-foot facility.
“We are able to make it up to 63 degrees together with space heaters around the shelter, but that’s it,
