Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is under scrutiny for his association with actor Dileep, who was recently acquitted in the 2017 actor assault case. On December 10, two days after his acquittal, the makers of Dileep's upcoming film, Bha Bha Ba , released its trailer. While the film was seen as a comeback venture for Dileep after his 8.5-year legal battle in the high-profile case , the trailer drew attention for a different reason. It featured Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in an explosive cameo.

Soon after the trailer was launched, Internet users expressed their shock at seeing a superstar openly associating and enabling Dileep, who was accused of criminal conspiracy in the case to kidnap and assault a popular Malayalam actor in 2017.
