On Thursday at 4:22 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a snow squall warning in effect until 5:15 a.m. for Centre and Clearfield counties.
"At 4:21 a.m., a dangerous snow squall was located along a line extending from near Karthaus to Snow Shoe to Centre Hall, moving southeast at 40 mph," comments the weather service. "Other locations impacted by this snow squall include Howard."
"Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes," describes the weather service. "Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden whiteout conditions."
Hazards include intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts up to 35 mph.
