The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission on Thursday could take a necessary step toward finally making making products available.
The AMCC is scheduled to consider license awards for dispensaries, a key link in allowing the long-stalled industry to start working, at least on a limited basis.
Two years ago, the AMCC issued licenses to cultivators, processors, transporters, and a state testing lab.
Cultivators have been growing the plants since 2024.
But dispensary licenses have been on hold because of lawsuits and a stay issued by the AMCC over disputes among companies competing for a limited number of licenses.
Justin Aday, general counsel for the AMCC, said the issuance of dispensary licenses would complete the supply chain and also remove a legal hurdle.
