A wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. in effect until Friday at 4 a.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The weather service states to be ready for, "West winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph."

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," explains the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
