FRANKFORT, Ky. (WAVE) - The man accused of shooting and killing a student at Kentucky State University appeared in court Thursday morning.

Jacob Bard was arrested after a fatal shooting on the university’s campus also left one student in the hospital. Thursday, he entered a plea of not guilty and received a full-cash bond of $1 million, double what the Commonwealth’s Attorney requested.

Bard’s attorney argued that the $500,000 requested by the prosecution was too high, saying Bard “is a family man” and not a flight risk due to his employment and his family’s support.
