FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. — The man accused of fatally shooting a Kentucky State University student and injuring another made his first court appearance following the Tuesday afternoon shooting.
Jacob Bard appeared virtually from the Franklin County Detention Center before Judge Chris Olds. Bard’s attorney appeared in the courtroom and entered a plea of not guilty to charges of murder and first-degree assault.
Prosecutors asked for at least a $500,000 bond, while the defense argued Bard is not a flight risk and has family support. Judge Olds set bond at $1 million, full cash.
Bard will be back in court for his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
De’Jon Fox Jr., 19, of Indianapolis was killed Tuesday, Dec. 9 outside of a dormitory on the KSU campus. A second victim remains hospitalized
