A child is dead after being struck by an HSR bus, Hamilton police say.

In a post to X, police said the fatal collision occurred at Emerald and Wilson streets, a few blocks east of J.C. Beemer Park.

Hamilton paramedics responded to the scene just after 1:10 p.m. A boy was transported to hospital without vital signs, said commander Dave Thompson.

Police said the child died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

“Please stay out of the area as police investigate,” police said.
