A Maryland mother whose newborn daughter was found dead with traumatic injuries is facing murder and other charges, according to state police.
Destiny Faith Chiveral, 24, was arrested overnight at her Charlestown home in Cecil County and charged in connection with the death of her 5-week-old daughter, authorities announced.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, police and paramedics rushed to a home in the unit block of Leedle Circle in Rising Sun, where they found the newborn suffering from injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. An autopsy was conducted, and it determined there was evidence of trauma, police say.
According to police, after consultation with the Office of the Cecil County State’s Attorney, State Police homicide investigators obtained search warrants for Chiveral's phone, person, and two residences associated with her.
Chiveral was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and related offenses.
