BUFFALO, N.Y. — Former Chief of Detectives Craig Macy will serve as interim police commissioner as the city begins a national search for a permanent leader.
Macy, 44, retired from the department in August after a lengthy career that included serving as a lieutenant with the former Neighborhood Engagement Team and later as chief of detectives.
Buffalo PBA President John Davidson said the union is open to working with Macy — or anyone the city appoints — so long as collaboration continues.
"I think Craig Macy is a leader," Davidson said. "Throughout his career with the Buffalo Police Department, he's shown he can lead. He's well respected within the department and within the PBA membership."
