A Detroit senior citizen who slashed the throat of a little girl while she was at a local park has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for the attack.
Gary Lansky pleaded guilty but mentally ill in November for the 2024 attack on Saida Masrah. He was sentenced Thursday in Wayne Circuit Court to serve a minimum of seven years in prison and a maximum of 15. He was also sentenced to one to four years in prison on a separate felonious assault conviction involving a relative. His sentences will run concurrently.
The incident happened in early October last year at Ryan Park, near the Dearborn border in east Detroit. Lansky, who was 74 at the time of the attack, allegedly approached Saida, who was 7 at the time, grabbed her head, tilted it back and slashed her throat. Saida kicked him an
