WACO, Texas — The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will take a larger role within Connally ISD operations, the district announced Thursday.
According to a statement, the TEA will appoint a conservator to advise and oversee district procedures. In addition, a TEA-appointed Board of Managers will help oversee the district.
After a Board of Managers is installed, the district said TEA Commissioner Mike Morath shall appoint a superintendent to lead the district.
Current superintendent of schools, Dr. Jill Bottelberghe, will remain in her role until the TEA appoints a replacement.
While the TEA appreciates and recognizes Dr. Bottelberghe's hard work and progress made within the district, they say more work needs to be done.
"We have already seen substantial gains in academic achievement thanks
