LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — In February 2024, Lancaster County purchased a building on 17th Street for what is set to become a new youth and family crisis center called SquareOne, operated by CenterPointe.
Construction is set to be completed next summer, but additional change orders presented to the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners Thursday may put the project more than $44,000 over budget .
County Facilities and Property Director Kerin Peterson said around $214,000 worth of changes are for the parking lot, something they’ve had to negotiate rights-of-way for as well.
A point of contention was the depth of concrete — 7 inches. Commissioners questioned the necessity and why it wasn’t part of the original bid. Peterson said she’d need to verify if the depth is up to code standards.
