The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 11:13 p.m. on Thursday for snow until Friday at 12:45 a.m. for Hudson and Essex counties.
"At 11:10 p.m., a band of snow extended from near East Orange in New Jersey to Ozone Park and Howard Beach in Queens, and was moving southeast at 25 mph," according to the weather service.
Locations impacted by the alert include Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, Crown Heights, Kennedy Airport, Canarsie, Lower East Side, East Village, SoHo, Kearny, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Brooklyn Heights, Battery Park and Park Slope.
The weather service states, "Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination."
