ANN ARBOR, MI - A man has pleaded no contest to raping and torturing a woman, stopping his jury trial.
Thomas Daniel Tieking, 46, took a last-minute plea deal on Dec. 8, the day his jury trial before Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Carol Kuhnke was supposed to begin, according to court records.
Tieking was set to stand trial for reportedly binding his then-girlfriend with cable ties and assaulting her using a beer bottle, a pistol, his fingers and multiple condiment bottles, according to previous testimony from Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Kailee Schuett.
He pleaded no contest to first-degree criminal sexual conduct, unlawful imprisonment, torture, assault with intent to murder and using a firearm during a felony. He faces up to life in prison.
