WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The new Texas Education Freedom Accounts will give parents funding that can go to private school tuition for their kids, but private schools need to submit an application to be officially apart of the new system.

Schools must show that they are in line with the TEA’s requirements, located in Texas and have been operational for more than two years.

Each child is expected to receive around ten thousand dollars.

In Killeen, since the Oak Creek Academy’s application was approved by the state, founder Dr. Tracy Hanson says they are expecting more families to be interested in their school.

“Our tuition is almost ten thousand dollars a school year, and these funds will fulfil the tuition amount that we charge for students,” Dr. Hanson said.
