Penguin fans have shared their confusion over the classification of the lunchbox staple - as many discuss how the country's favourites treats have changed in size and price over the years
They're a lunchbox staple - but it turns out Penguin bars are no longer considered to be chocolate bars. Made by Pladis' manufacturing division of McVitie's, Penguin bars were originally created by William McDonald in 1932 - and come in various flavours including orange, mint and a cake bar.
However, they have recently been reclassified as "chocolate flavoured" as do not include enough cocoa it be considered to be a chocolate bar. Shocked, a Reddit user said: "Greedflation has come for Penguins - now not enough cocoa to be classified as chocolate. They're now chocolate flavour."
