A major fire at a bus depot in Greenock on Friday (December 12) is being treated as wilful by police. Emergency services were alerted to the incident on the town's Lynedoch Street after the fire started shortly before 4.50pm.

Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were sent to tackle the bus blaze. They managed to extinguish the fire after a number of hours, the Daily Record reports. There were no reported injuries, but the bus has been destroyed.

Police locked down several streets around the depot as a result of heavy smoke coming from the blaze . Pictures from the fire seen by Glasgow Live showed an extensive emergency services response, with a bystander describing seeing around a dozen police and fire vehicles.
