An Edinburgh city centre bank was targeted in an early morning attack by vandals on Saturday morning. The HSBC branch on Hanover Street was vandalised with what appears to be grey paint that looks to have been thrown over the windows and brickwork.
Officers were alerted to the incident at around 4.30am on Saturday, December 13 and the branch has now been closed while the police carry out enquiries.
Images of the aftermath of the attack show the branch in darkness as workmen tend to the damage .
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.30am on Saturday, 13 December, 2025, we received a report of vandalism to a premises in Hanover Street, Edinburgh.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
A HSBC UK spokesperson apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused their customers, adding:
