MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KCRG) - Marshalltown Police arrested a 19-year-old in connection to a shooting and robbery that occurred at a park in Marshalltown on Tuesday.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, a person with a gunshot wound was brought to the Unity Point Health Emergency Room in Marshalltown.

Authorities from the Marshalltown Police Department were sent to the emergency room to speak with the victim.

Police say one victim had been shot at 1800 Marion Street (Nicholson Ford Park) on Tuesday night. Another victim was pistol whipped in the head.

Both victims had items stolen from them.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Olivares, of Aplington, was charged with the following:

Attempted murder

Robbery: two counts

Willful injury

Assault while participating in a felony:
