NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating after a stabbing and fire were reported at a hotel in South Nashville overnight.

The Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department were called just before 3 a.m. Tuesday to Regency Inn on Murfreesboro Pike. First responders located a person with stab wounds, who was treated at the scene.

According to officials, as they were helping the victim, a person informed firefighters that a unit in the building was on fire. Firefighters on scene used a hose line to extinguish the fire before it could spread to other units. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause.

MNPD investigators are still searching for the stabbing suspect. No additional information was released.
