CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Part of a rail trail in South End Charlotte will be closed temporarily beginning on Monday, according to Charlotte Area Transit System officials.

Officials said starting on Monday, Sept. 8 that part of the rail trail at the New Bern Station near the MAA Reserve Apartment Complex in South End Charlotte would be closed temporarily due to a drainage replacement project.

Charlotte Area Transit System said the closure is between Poindexter Drive and New Bern Street and it would be closed for approximately four months.

Officials said that signage will be posted for rail trail users to avoid the area and lead them back to an open part of the trail.

Blue Line operations should not be impacted by the drainage replacement project.
